Revival Isn’t Encounter, It’s…
THE MAIN POINT:
Revival… Great Awakening… is not about an Encounter with Jesus.
It’s about getting Married to Jesus…
Not Visitation, but Habitation. Permanent Presence and In-dwelling. Abiding.
Marriage, doing life together, getting pregnant and having kids.

I had a ‘Rev from Heav’ this morning.
Revival is about getting Married to Jesus.
Bamm! It makes sense now.
So much of the current ‘press and hype’ about Revival in the Church is about creating or providing an ‘experience’… intense, off-the-charts worship, a profound ‘moment’ of deep spiritual significance for those present, praise and worship that goes on for hours…
That’s because the modern Church is stuck on the ‘Invitational’ model of things… that Church is somehow a big evangelistic service to draw in people from the outside… and that ya gotta have lights and fog and a kickin’ band and a dynamic public speaker to make it happen.
A million miles from God’s intention for the gathering of His Ekklesia, for sure.
Taking that performance-based, individual experience expectation and bending it to fit ‘Revival’ will always result in ‘less than Revival’.
Maybe even ‘not-Revival’.
Revival is about individual believers and a corporate Ekklesia that is madly in love with King Jesus, desperate for His Continued Presence 24/7, and a passionate pursuit of His abiding and His dwelling with us.
As uncomfortable as it has made me, I’ve come to find that Song of Songs in the Old Testament is the Book of Revival in the Bible.
Even the Jewish experts of Scripture before Jesus were made very uncomfortable by Song of Songs.
It’s intimate. It’s experiential. It’s emotional. It’s passionate. It’s raw. It’s romantic. It’s even…
More than anything, it’s about Marriage, doing life together, getting pregnant and having kids.
It’s about practical and real love… not the goo and mush and weirdness of a TV movie, but Godly relationships.
It’s also about Revival where God comes and dwells and abides and gets real with His Bride.
It’s about Emmanuel, God moving in.
It’s about permanence. It’s about continued Presence.
We are the Bride and HE is the Bridegroom.
That’s why Jesus was so clear about Marriage:
‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? 6 So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” Matt 19:5-6
Joined together… one flesh…
That’s real Revival.
TAKE-AWAY:
The Encounter IS important. It’s the Bride meeting the Bride-Groom, so she can experience that YES, it’s all true and she falls madly in love with Him, ready to do life forever with Him.
But the Encounter is the Invitation… it’s the Proposal, “Marry Me!”
Revival… Great Awakening… is not about an Encounter with Jesus.
It’s about getting Married to Jesus…
Not Visitation, but Habitation. Permanent Presence and In-dwelling. Abiding.
Marriage, doing life together, getting pregnant and having kids.
