‘His Burning Ones of the Secret Place’ will be a new stream of Posts on AdoreTheLord.blog
In this stream, there will be three reoccurring and over-arching themes:
– HIS…
that means God, Yahweh, Lord, Adonai, Father-Son-Spirit… the One Who Was, Is, and Will Be… the Great I AM… King Jesus…
– BURNING ONES…
that would be those of us who are ‘all in’ for the Kingdom of God, passionately pursuing Him, constantly seeking His Manifest Presence 24/7, radically committed to King Jesus and filled with the Holy Spirit… marked and ruined for anything else but God and all that He is… a sold-out and totally on the road Disciple of the Master Jesus…
-SECRET PLACE…
this is the ancient practice of separating oneself regularly and continually to fervently seek God ‘one-on-One’… this practice is seen throughout Scriptures and firmly instituted by Jesus for all His Disciples [reference Matthew 6]… known by a number of other descriptors, it implies more than ‘a quiet time’ a ‘devotional’, or a programmed Bible reading… it is a two-way conversation… it involves intense focus, worship, singing, adoration, thanksgiving, Scripture, praise, active listening, exchange, conversation, communion, then… prayers, requests, petitions, intercessions, problem-solving, ‘casting cares’, then… journaling and capturing the moment for meditation and reflection, then… repeat…

It is not, by design, a ‘gimmie gimmie’ session, or an opportunity to make demands and requests at God.
Oh, yeah, the Secret part. That means alone. You and God. Secret. “Go in and close the door”… or go off by yourself, be apart from other humans, mute the cell phone and set it aside…
Over the coming months [??who knows how long!] AdoreTheLord we’ll be un-packing these three things together.
Some ‘Secrets’ of The Secret Place
The overwhelming ‘secrets’ of ‘The Secret Place’ are that…
-God shows up. Huge. Big time. Powerfully. Physically perceivable. The God who created this Universe by merely speaking a Word, the God who gave Himself for my redemption and resurrection, the God who rules and reigns above all powers and thrones and dominions… the King of the Universe stoops low to meet me, to meet us in The Secret Place…
-God communicates with us in The Secret Place… occasionally in a language we speak, frequently in His languages and methods, and then in ways that take time to learn and unpack, frequently in Scripture… never in a way that would violate Scripture… frequently in Supernatural ways…
-God always gives Gifts in the Secret Place… Always! Hope, encouragement, faith, clarity, identity, destiny, peace, grace, forgiveness, assurance, mercy, security, peace of mind, love, love, love… and… and… supernatural gifts…
When you walk away from that Secret Place, you will hear His footsteps with you… never leaves or forsakes you…
Come as you are, but you can never leave the same way.
There is sometimes course-correction. Since He sees and knows everything, He may speak to a few things… “that thing/behaviour/heart attitude… c’mon, you’re better than that!”
Frequently disorienting.
‘Taste and see’, experiential… as well as mind-blowing intellectual.
Something that lingers with you… empowerment, confidence, strength to stand, encouragement, comfort, clarity of mind and heart.
Correction, mercy and grace to do better… never condemnation.
Yes, this is Supernatural stuff.
Yes, it will definitely mess you up.
Yes, it will totally re-write your life… it’s re-writing mine!

Some may say, ‘well… what about the Church? What about Congregational gatherings? What about Corporate Worship?’
Good questions!
What and How ‘The Secret Place’ fits into the ‘corporate context’ deserves a great deal of space… so that will come later.
MATTHEW 6
5 “Also, when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to pray [publicly] standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets so that they may be seen by men. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, they [already] have their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your most private room, close the door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees [what is done] in secret will reward you.
7 “And when you pray, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 So do not be like them [praying as they do]; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
