I just have to point out the massive amount of worship going up to our King in recent days.
Way more than a song or song-set, God-adoration and God-worship is living a God-ward, grateful life in community, service and sacrifice. When the Body of Christ joins together in selfless service to the hurting and needy, our Lord receives glory and worship. When the Saints are the ones hurting, and still reach out in care to their neighbors and gratitude to the Lord… well, that’s worship ‘with a cost’, which blasts off in God-worship straight to the throne.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12: 1-2)
We all know about the mind-blowing devastation in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico… and Oaxaca, and Mexico City… and the far East… and NorCal. There are SO many people who’ve been wiped out; wind, storm-surge, fires, floods.
I just gotta give testimony to what I’ve been in-touch with these last few weeks… ‘cuz there’s huge amounts of God-worship coming out of these devastated areas…
Why? Well, the Body of Christ in all these places have risen up… massively risen up… risen up, even when they have lost something… to love, care for, serve, work, sacrifice… to the people around them.
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. (Hebrews 13: 15-16)
I’ve been in contact with people in those areas, all who have lost something that will be hard to replace… and you know what? In every conversation I’ve had, these folks are grateful… grateful! They are praising and thanking God that their family and friends are OK… the stuff may be gone, but they’re OK. They are also grateful… grateful!… to be helping their neighbors.
Some of these folks have even ramp’d up their game, reaching out with energy and joy in ways that humble me, for sure…
Yes, there has been mind-numbing disasters… and the Body of Christ is out doing the stuff, being Living Sacrifices, lifting the Sacrifice of Praise in gratitude and love to our Lord!
They are teaching us what God-adoration and God-worship really looks like.
Lord, may YOU be praised!
