REVIVAL IN REAL-TIME

We are watching a Revival explode in the Midwest-USA in real time.

This is totally unprecedented in Church history.

I am SOOOO taken with watching the Asbury Revival play out! I am SOOO jazzed that I get to do this in real-time, with soooo many daily and live updates from Asbury!!

People can watch on-line videos and see first-hand reports of miracles, signs, wonders, repentance, healing, deliverance within minutes of GOD’S sovereign action. So many ‘Gen-Z’ers’ are getting on ‘social media’ platforms and sharing what GOD is doing!

Many of us received notices, Facebook messages, notes from ‘in-the-know’ friends within 24 hours of the ‘fire-fall’ at Asbury University in Kentucky… and we began watching!

We then began using search engines that quickly put us in touch with videos, blogs, on-the-ground reporting, and the myriad of testimonies and eye-witness accounts of GOD’s moving at Asbury.

Revival in real-time.

Not ‘some rumored reports’ a month later. Not some newspaper article ‘picked up on the wire’ on page 11 two weeks later.

Not some chapter in a historic treatise on ‘revival’ from a dusty library.

This REVIVAL is playing out before our eyes in real-time, brought out to the WHOLE WORLD by digital platforms, internet communication and social media.

The Church around the WORLD is seeing this American revival… and it looks like the other Revivals that are currently burning in Nigeria, Kenya, Poland, South Korea…

This is the FIRST TIME this has ever happened.

This is the first time we are able to touch a REAL REVIVAL thousands of miles away, in real time. 

<>HISTORIC

This week, I heard a friend share how 100 years ago (1923) was the advent of mass-media. Via telegraph, newspapers, telephone reporting, and the newly-emerged medium of radio broadcast news, people had just begun to receive news from thousands of miles away within weeks of those events occurring.

Yes, weeks. Sometimes, months.

{Point of fact: On Nov 2, 1920, KDKA in Pittsburgh PA launched the first licensed radio station that broadcast news.}

Then, the 1960’s saw the explosion of Television News, and the creation of the US ‘fourth branch of government’, the media. However, TV quickly became heavily filtered and biased… a Revival probably wouldn’t meet the ‘if it bleeds, it leads’ mantra of TV news.

Then the Cable Era came in the mid-1980’s. Unfortunately, news and information became even more stuck in silos.

Then the Internet Era of the early 2000’s. Even though ‘smart-phones’ were available in 1994, they really didn’t take off until 2008.

Social media platforms became ‘background’ to our society around the 2010’s.

It’s the mix of Internet, hand-held tekk, computers and social media that ‘set us up’ for actually touching a REVIVAL of GOD’s manifest Presence in 2023… as it’s happening… in real-time!

<>YES, THIS REVIVAL IS THE REAL DEAL

With all the pundits, ‘experts’ and ‘opinion-voices’ on the Internet, there is already much growling and barfing that Asbury and the 10 other places exploding as of this writing (16Feb23) is NOT a ‘real revival’. These nay-sayers claim it’s all a ‘false flag operation’, is ‘filled with heresy and false doctrine’, is ‘doomed to fail’, and be eventually shown as a ‘ploy of the powers of darkness to deceive many and bring thousands into bondage’.

Total bunk.

Sorry, kids, this is A REAL REVIVAL.

As of this writing, it MAY be the first-fruits of much more to come. TEN other locations in America are coming up in my on-line feeds as having REAL REVIVAL breaking out there as well!

As with every other historic revival of the last 200 years, it is drawing some harsh criticism and bitter hatred from a terrible minority who claim to be Christians.

The Scriptures actually tell us this rejection is to be expected, and clearly helps us understand this ‘result’ of the fire-fall of the Holy Spirit:

5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? 9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,[b] 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?” 13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”

Real Holy Spirit Revival will look and feel to ‘every nation under heaven’ as something they simply can’t understand… their rejection is a hallmark of a not-Holy-Spirit-regenerated mind (1Cor 2:14-3:9). This group… of which American churches have many in it’s pews… will be ‘bewildered… utterly amazed… amazed again (even more) and perplexed… and make fun of those on whom the Spirit has fallen, and now dwells.

Yeah, that’s evidence it’s a real-deal Revival.

34 Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, who was honored by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a little while. 35 Then he addressed the Sanhedrin:

38 “…Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. 39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.”

40 His speech persuaded them. They called the apostles in and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

This is actually a street-smart religious leader in the middle of the cabal that helped crucify the Christ a short time ago, trying to figure out what to do. Gamaliel, the grandson of the legendary Rabbi Hillel (the famous school of Rabbinical thought in the time of Jesus) was also the Rabbi who trained Saul of Tarsus… later the brilliant New Testament writer and Apostle Paul. Of course, the Apostles who were being detained for their Revival behaviours in Acts 5 ended up getting flogged for channeling Revival, and told ‘stop what you’re doing’… which they, of course didn’t, because HE didn’t stop the Revival fires from falling all over the place

‘And the Church of Christ was born/and the Spirit lit the flame/Now this Gospel truth of old/shall not kneel, shall not faint’ sings the Hillsong tune ‘King of Kings’

Why?

Because REAL REVIVAL ignites a passion for repentance and abandon to Christ… like the song’s next lyric:

TAKE-AWAY:

In my 65 trips around Sol on this rock, I have been touched by a number of Revivals. I experienced the tail-end of the Healing movement (started in 1946 and wrapped in the early 70’s). I was saved in the Jesus Movement (started in 1967, I got saved in 1972 at a Jesus outreach concert). I was a part of the Charismatic Movement of the 1970’s, even lived in community a bit. I experienced a great deal of the over-flow of the Vineyard/Toronto blessing, as well as the Pensacola Outpouring and the Brownsville Revival (all mid-90’s).

I’ve even come to know that my Welsh heritage thru my great grand-mother means the Revival in 1904 flows in my history. The Welsh Revival helped stoke the great Asuza Street Revival of 1906 in LA.

Now, I get to touch the Holy Visitation of Revival that lit up at Asbury University and Seminary in 2023.

In real-time.

Revival.

One truth about Holy Spirit fire that I’ve learned from all my personal history with Revival… if there’s a lot of dry and available fuel, the FIRE will spread quickly.

Here we are, LORD. Spirit, light the flame.
