Everybody Playing Well Together in the Sand-box [1]

Psalm 133

A song of ascents. Of David.

1 How good and pleasant it is
    when God’s people live together in unity!

2 It is like precious oil poured on the head,
    running down on the beard,
running down on Aaron’s beard,
    down on the collar of his robe.
3 It is as if the dew of Hermon
    were falling on Mount Zion.
For there the Lord bestows his blessing,
    even life forevermore.              (NIV)

I like to call this Psalm the ‘Dripping Oil and Commanded Blessing’ Psalm. Only three verses long, it makes it’s point.

There is a ‘Kingdom culture’ element of the ‘modern worship music’ movement that is easy to miss. It may actually be a part of the reason we are seeing unprecedented, un-historic breakthrough in the worship gatherings of the Body of Christ around the world…

What is it? Well…

    …everyone is playing well together in the sand-box!

Some may call it ‘unity’ (Psalm 133:1-ish), but that word has been SOOO over-used in the last half-century, it may diminish the impact here. Besides, this has more depth than a general ‘unity’ thing.

What do I mean by ‘everyone is playing well together’?

There seems to be a profound LACK of ego, self-protection, market-competition and posturing… everybody is turning up on everybody-else-s projects (recordings, concert tours, video tapings, conferences, training events)… Chris Tomlin just recorded with Pat Barrett who played at Bethel Music who opened for Hillsong who guested with Martin Smith who toured with Matt Redman who… with… and…

… Passion Conferences, Bethel Music schools, Hillsong world-wide stadium and arena tours, artists’ nights-of-worship, ‘worship concert’ tours, events, large-scale events, small-scale events…

How amazing! How refreshing! How Kingdom-of-God!

This is a huge deal! The take-away here is that this one aspect is something that God can get excited about, and may be the ‘secret but crucial ingredient’ to what is currently blowing up everywhere (literally)… GOd commanding the Blessing where this incredible working-together thing is happening well!
