‘PRAY LIKE THIS…’ The Disciple’s Prayer

‘PRAY LIKE THIS…’ SUPPLEMENTAL NOTES AND BACKGROUND
COMMENTS INSIGHTS IMPORTANT STUFF

Baruch ata Adonai, Eloheinu Melech ha-olam…
“Blessed are You, Adonai our God, King and Sovereign of the universe…”
Hebrews pray this ‘opening’ between 50-70 times a day

Titled ‘Pray Like This’ [some translations say, “this is HOW you should pray…”]
Today, explore praying [verb-action or being], not prayer [noun]
‘Pray Like This’ was an answer of Jesus to the Disciples asking ‘Teach us to pray’ [verb] Luke 11:1
and ‘increase our faith’ Luke 17:5-6
not ‘teach us a prayer [noun]’ or ‘give us the magic words’

Today, we’ll land at ‘The Disciple’s Prayer’

[many Bibles have added section header ‘The Lord’s Prayer’
inaccurate: Matt 6 has an admission of sin, which Jesus didn’t have]

?? People memorized the prayer ‘Our Father’ as children in many Church traditions ASK!
Positive: know the words of Scripture… good start
Negative: CAN result in ‘vaccinated state’ against that Passage’s depth and connection with the Father

RELIGION keeps us from RELATIONSHIP with the Father: ‘a form of Godliness absent of the POWER’ [2 Tim 3:5]

Hell doesn’t mind people speaking out mindless and dis-connected ‘prayers’ and singing nostalgic songs

HOWEVER, when a Believer… or two or three… get revelation from Heaven of the REALITY of what they are handling… then begin MOVING in that…
    Hell trembles and demons scream in pain

Jesus tells His Disciples to ‘beware of the leaven of Herod and the leaven of the Pharisees’ [Mark 8:15]

TODAY: We’re going after the cleaning out of any Leaven of the Pharisees in our lives and hearts regarding The Disciple’s Prayer
[Jewish celebration of CHAMETZ, the rigorous clean-out of all things Leaven before PASSOVER / PESACH]

and release the power of Heaven for SUPERNATURAL CONNECTION and BREAKTHROUGH when we pray

‘Pray Like This…’
TO PRAY means…

ENTERING THE THRONE ROOM
Hebrews 4: 6 tells us: “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
-Jesus told us about THE SECRET PLACE… it’s not a designated ‘place’, but a HEART that’s cut from distractions and focused it’s affections and attention on THE FATHER

ROYAL PROTOCOLS IN PLACE
! Careful! Yes, we are FRIENDS OF GOD, but… BUT
HE is God, I am not! HE is God, we are not!
Psalm 100: the Royal Protocol
‘Enter His gates with Thanksgiving
Enter HIs courts with Praise.”
Thanksgiving: what HE has done, “Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!” [good start point of praying]
Praise: who HE is, what HE wants to do, HIS character, His will

RESTORING OUR HONOR AS SONS AND DAUGHTERS
Hebrews 11:6 tells us: “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”
-the REWARD… the PRIZE… the PROMISE… the PORTION… is NOT something but someONE… HIM!
-every time I go to pray, HE is waiting for me… every. single. time.
-every time I go off to be in a SECRET PLACE with Abba God, HE is waiting for me… every.single.time.
-every time I pray, HE pours out Honor on me… HE stirs in me how it is THE HIGHEST OF HONORS to be welcomed into
HIS Presence.
-feeling stripped of Honor? PRAY LIKE THIS…

We are FRIENDS OF GOD in the Redemption of the Work of Christ on the Cross

BREAKS OPEN OUR HEARTS
Hebrews 5:7 [God’s Word Translation] says: “During His life on earth, Jesus prayed to God, who could save Him from death. He prayed and pleaded with loud crying and tears, and He was heard because of His devotion to Father God.”
-there’s NOTHING pretty about the 40+ times in the Gospels we see or hear Jesus PRAYING…
-The Disciple’s Prayer leads me into a time of BLUNT HONESTY with Abba Father God
-The Psalms (all 150 of them) are a hot example of that… should pray one Psalm a day
-opening the Scriptures, praying the Scriptures, letting the Scriptures READ ME is part of my DAILY
MANNA

REVEALS THE HEART OF THE FATHER
WAY to big to open up here.
The Body of Scripture is the written Revelation of the Father from Genesis 1 thru Revelations
Open The Word, begin to read it carefully, and HolySpirit explodes Presence and Revelation to every Disciple of Jesus.

ALIGNS US WITH THE PLANS, INTENTIONS AND PURPOSES OF THE FATHER
Matthew 5-6-7 reveals HOW the Kingdom of God works
The Kingdom of God is ‘not a matter of meat or drink, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost’ (Romans 14:17)
The Kingdom of God is totally COUNTER-INTUITIVE to all things of fallen humanity

When we PRAY, we are being aligned and re-made by The Father showing us and guiding us in what HE wants.

“Life got way better for me when I learned that to PRAY isn’t to try and bend God’s arm, or get what I want, but to open myself up to a REV FROM HEAV , receive His thoughts and perspectives

PIVOTS ON THE SECRET PLACE
THE SECRET PLACE is your carved-out space for YOU to encounter The Father and get re-aligned.
That’s part of the ‘reward’ Jesu refers to: you get revelation IN THE SECRET PLACE, you ACT on that God-given revelation, and it brings Kingdom of Heaven breakthrough OUT IN THE OPEN [Matthew 6:6]

PIVOTS ON FORGIVENESS
The Matthew 6 ‘debts’, ‘trespasses’, ‘sins’ are NOT stepped over, but dealt head-on
Sins of commission
Sins of omission
We sin against each other continually… we hurt, wound, block, gossip, betray, gouge each other [James 4:1-3]
We justify our sins inside our thoughts
SOME cultures hold ‘un-forgiveness’ as a virtue
JESUS calls us out, AND points out that RENDERING FORGIVENESS is directly tied to our RECEIVING FORGIVENESS from GOD!

POSITIONS US TO STEP INTO THE UNSEEN REALM OF GOD’S KINGDOM
Luke 9:28-36 reveals a detail that’s easy to miss, but is something VERY incredible
‘The Mount of Transfiguration’ story…
found in Luke, as well as Matthew, Mark and mentioned by an eyewitness [Peter in his epistle]
Heavens break open, Jesus conversing with Saints in Glory, Voice of The Father… and after, an amazing
breakthrough of healing for a demonized child and SOZO faith for a parent in torment…

Luke specifically notes this all happened when Jesus went up to the Mountain TO PRAY…
?? Is this suggesting to US what is available when we PRAY with un-veiled hearts and lives?? [see 2 Corinthians 3:13-18]

PRAYING and THE SECRET PLACE opens us up to the MIRACULOUS, to signs and wonders and healing and miracles and setting people free from oppression…
Opens us up to fulfill our MISSION of Matthew 10:7-8

ALIGNS US WITH THE BODY OF CHRIST/EACH OTHER
NOT a private ‘me and Jesus’ club
The Kingdom of God MUST be lived out in Community
Our Father… give us today… forgive us our debts/sins as we forgive… and lead us not… deliver us… SIX plural references

PRAYER DOESN’T CHANGE THINGS…
PRAYING CHANGES ME, PRAYING CHANGES US, PRAYING CHANGES THE CHURCH

-THE KING OF HEAVEN is completely Sovereign … ‘He is always working’ John 5:17 
-THE KING OF HEAVEN is Good, and takes care of all our needs, even before we ask   Matthew 6:8
-THE KING OF HEAVEN wants us to co-labour with Him to accomplish His purposes   Matt 28:16-20 & Acts 1:7-8

Praying is the connection that brings us into alignment with Him, in all things great and small.

No ‘barking at the empty sky’
THE Reward is HIM, HIS manifest and constant Presence

He was heard because of His devotion to Father God.”

Matthew 6:6 The Secret Place IS the personal touch-point between Heaven and Earth for the Son or Daughter of God.
It is a Throne-Room encounter opportunity.
It teaches us HOW The Kingdom of God works out practically, in our own lives
It positions us to step into the Unseen Realm, which is the deeper reality we actually live in, but can’t
see with our human perceptions

[see 2 Corinthians 4:18, John 6:63, 2 Kings 6:17, Romans 14:17]

Matthew 10:7-8 Proclamation fails if not accompanied by demonstrations of the Power of God.
7 As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’
8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,[a] drive out demons.
Freely you have received; freely give.
Tied to St Pauls radical practice of ‘preaching the Gospel’ with demonstrations of Holy Spirit power, as laid
out in 1 Corinthians 2:1-5

John 5:17 The Father is always working, right up to NOW… to be ‘in ministry’ is to be in full alignment and cooperation
with The Father

Matthew 6:8 It’s ‘legal’ to ask related to NEEDS, but asking must be in alignment with a proper heart [ see James 4:1-9]

Matthew 28:16-20 It is a Co-Mission, meaning a cooperation with The Father regarding His Mission (Matthew 6:10 ‘Your
Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven’), in alignment with Acts 1:7-8

Luke 9:28-36 ‘Mount of Transfiguration’ story found in Luke 9, Matthew 17:1-8 and Mark 9:2-8, and mentioned by
Peter in his epistle {2 Peter 1:16-18)… ?? was this a ‘normal’ experience for Jesus when He prayed off
by Himself???
?? Could this be the ‘un-veiled’ experience discussed in 2 Corinthians 3:13-18?????

Exodus 3:14 I AM [Tetragrammaton Hebrew (Yod), ה (He), ו (Vav/Waw), and ה (He) YHWH (יהוה).
Jesus self-identificational use NOT proud or boastful, but truthful
Jesus used Greek I AM egō eimi (“I AM”) … twice clearly in John 8:58 and John 18:4-6
BUT also adding Divine Character and Characteristics to it [I AM the Bread of Life, I
AM the Way, the Truth and the Life, I AM the Good Shepherd, I AM the Vine…]

Mark 1:9-13 The ‘torn open’ is a definitive, un-changing reality, a
portal for the invasion
Revelations 21:1-5 Earth will be re-made, and we will inhabit there in
The unfiltered Presence of GOD in His Kingdom of
Heaven
